We are located in Hardin County, Illinois 3.2 miles East of the little town of Karbers Ridge and 3.3 miles West of Hwy 1 on Karbers Ridge/Pounds Hollow blacktop. We are 370 miles from Chicago, 166 miles from St. Louis, 70 miles from Evansville, and 65 miles from Paducah. If you are using a trip maker system, input Karbers Ridge instead of our Elizabethtown mailing address. The trip maker systems do not recognize some of the roads that would make your trip shorter.

If you are arriving in Carbondale by Amtrak .  After picking up your rental car at the station (ask how to get to 13 EAST).  Take 13 East out of Carbondale approximately 50 miles to Hwy 1 (you will go through Marion (good Kroger store in Marion on left just E of 57 on 13) and Harrisburg - Harrisburg is a good place to get groceries. For alternative Hwy 34 route out of Harrisburg see green below "second route")  Continue on Hwy 13 to Hwy 1.  Hwy 1 is 23 miles East of Harrisburg on 13.  At Hwy 13 and Hwy 1 take Hwy 1 South (right).  Drive about 8.8 miles to Pounds Hollow Blacktop.  There is a blue tourism sign just previous to the turnoff with our name as well as a brown forestry sign saying "Garden of the Gods" and Pounds Hollow".  Turn right on Pounds Hollow blacktop.  There is an old motel just at the turn off.  Drive 3.3 miles.  You will see Hills Cemetery on the left and Rim Rock Recreational Trail on the right. Drive past about 100 feet.  We are the next driveway to the left.  There is a mailbox on the right with our name and a big gate with an American flag and lots of wildlife depicted on the gate. Deer Run, Cougar Bluff and Bear's Den are to the left after you turn into our driveway and Eagle's Retreat and Coyote Hollow are to the right after you turn into the driveway.  Follow the signs. Note:  for groceries in Harrisburg take a left at the Junction of 13 and 45 North.  Go 3 lights and you will see Kroger on the left.  For Walmart Super Store take a right at the Junction of Hwy 13 and 45 South.  Go through one light and you will see Walmart on the left.  Get back on Hwy 13 East when you finish shopping and continue 23 miles to Hwy 1 as stated above.

If you are traveling from the North get on I 57. Continue on Hwy 57 to Marion**, Illinois.  At Marion take Hwy 13 East to Harrisburg There is a great Kroger store in Marion just after you get on Hwy 13 on the left.  (Note Alternate: Aug, 2011 There will be some construction on 57 Hwy South of Benton.  To avoid exit at Benton Exit 71.  Take 34 South to Harrisburg )  In Harrisburg you have two good choices see above .  If you want to go to Garden of the Gods before you come to our cabins take the Hwy 34 route out of Harrisburg.  First route:
